"Is your Mom or Dad home?"

How many times am I going to have to answer the door to my own house and have someone say to me, "Is your Mom or Dad home?" Seriously? Do I look like I am 16 years old or something? This has happened 3 times this week! UGH! I am so annoyed. Maybe to avoid solicitors in the future, I will just say, "Sorry, my Mom and Dad are gone right now, and I am not able to make any purchasing decisions. Bye-bye!" Robie thinks this is funny. I assure you, it is not.

Beautiful Spring

I love all the beauty that comes in the Spring! Here are a few pictures of a beautiful butterfly that was outside our house. I grabbed my good camera and was able to get a few shots before it flew away.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to the Y we go.... (whistle)...

For Memorial Day, Robie and I decided we would walk from our house to the Y on the mountain. It would not be THAT far, right? At least that is what Robie told me. So on our hike we began...

...until we reached the Y. Actually, we had hiked for over an hour in the hot sun, and what we thought was the Y was really the point where people begin to hike to the Y. We had NO water, and I thought Gizmo and Cooper were going to die. Robie had seriously miscalculated. So, instead of hiking another hour to the Y, we decided to take the trail back home. It was still a fun hike, and the scenery was beautiful! I guess we will have to hike the Y another time, and we will remember to drive to the base to begin instead of walking. (And maybe we will bring some water.)

Why, Dane, Why!!!?

Ya know that sick feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you forget you mother's birthday, miss an important flight at the airport, or accidently wreck your brother's new car? Times that feeling by 10, and you get the pain I felt when I missed out on FRONT ROW tickets to see Dane Cook. We had planned to see Dane Cook for a while, and decided to invite some friends along with us. We had the WORST seats, but we did not mind, because they were cheap. As we were driving to the concert, our friends called us and told us as they were sitting in their seats, a random worker at the E-Center asked if they would like to sit front row! I guess they were filming, and wanted the front row to look full. They had 4 tickets, but for us to sit front row we had to be there 20 min before the concert started. No problem. We pushed the petal to the metal and speed all the way there. We were so excited! The only thing I have ever been front row for was a David Archuleta concert in my DREAMS! As we were taking our exit off the freeway, traffic stopped. There was this STUPID construction right in the parking lot of the E-Center!!! I wanted to SCREAM as the clock ticked...and ticked...and ticked. Finally, I decided to jump out of the car and make a run for it to the E-Center. I had to get those tickets, or they were going to be given away to someone else in a matter of minutes. As I stepped out of the car to run, our friends called and informed us the "E-Center" people had to give the tickets to someone else. AHHH!!! I wanted to cry, and then came the sick feeling in my stomach. So, instead of being in these seats here: (see yellow stars)

...we were stuck on the very top row with all the heckler drunks. The whole time, I was looking down and I could see our friends laughing and having a jolly time on the front row. The front row we should have been ours. (A little bitter, I am.) AND, to make things worse, after the show I get a picture text from my brother-in-law, Jon David (who was not even supposed to be at the show).Yes, yes it is what you think it is. It is the extremely HOT DANE COOK and Jon David...hangin' out backstage! I think this is the point I completely lost it! In conclusion, I have the worst luck ever and will never live the dream of being on the front row. At least it was not a David Archuleta concert. If that were the case, I would probably be in a crazy house by now.

MY BIRTHDAY #22!

Being 22 is SO much better than being 21. I don't know why. Maybe it is because it seems like you now have experience as a 20-something year old. You are not a new-be anymore. I don't know, but all I do know is I like it.

For my 22 bday weekend, Robie (my wonderful husband) took me to the Anniversary Inn. This is one of our favorite places to go. Check out the rooms they have there! We stayed in the "Mysteries of Egypt" room.

They give you breakfast in bed when you wake up the next day.

The next day, Robie (the best husband EVER) threw me a SURPRISE party at one of my favorite restaurants, Asuka. It was so fun to see all my good friends there! (Thanks guys!)

Then, the NEXT day...(which was a Sunday and ACTUALLY my bday), my friend Tawsha made me a cake and brought it over to our house. Thanks Tawsha! It was really yummy. Misty and Russ came over too. It was an unexpected mini-bday party.

Hope Center and Kim Peek

This was a few weeks ago, but still a REALLY cool experience. One of Robie's friends recently had a charity event for a new day care center for disabled children they are opening up. It is called the Hope Center, and it is the first of its kind here in Utah. Robie and I went early to volunteer and help set up tents since it was probably going to rain that day...and of course, it did....a lot! It pretty much rained the whole time, which was a bummer, because his friend had put SO much money into the event. Robie and I had fun being in charge of the giant blow up jumpy castle/slide thing (Do those things even have a name?).

Okay, so for the REAL cool part of the whole event, they got Kim Peek (inspiration for the movie "Rainman") to speak. I even got to hold his OSCAR that Dustin Hoffman gave him. When in your life have you ever held an OSCAR? He is such an AMAZING person. I seriously can't stress enough how amazing he really is.


After his father introduced Kim, he asked for a volunteer. I raised my hand. I told Kim where I was from (Austin, Texas) and my birthday. That was it. This is what Kim was able to tell me:

I was born on a Sunday.
The Best Picture of the Year for the year I was born.
What major roads lead into Austin.
What day Texas became a state- and what DAY of the week that day was.
Exactly how many days until my next bday would be, and what day of the week it would be on.

I think he said more, but he is seriously a genius! He could name these things for ANY city. ANY CITY you can think of! He knows the answer to ANY question! In your spare time, you should google Kim Peek. He is such an amazing individual! Thanks, Kim, for enriching my life and for the inspiration you bring to so many in the world.

I will miss you

I am sad to see my favorite show end for the year. Now I have nothing to look forward to Tues/Wed nights after work. I am THRILLED Kris Allen won! YEAH! Good for him. His wife is so lucky. Marry for love, and still get the fame. Good for her too. I was slightly upset how Idol seemed to set up the performances for the finale. Kris gets...what was that country singer's name again?, and Adam gets KISS!!! (BLAAAAAA!!! *Tongue out) Kris's outfits vs Adam's were night and day. I think Adam was shocked he did not win...and it was so funny. Kris is so humble.



Let's talk about the REAL shocker of the night. Kara. Who knew she had such a nice pasty white six pack under there? I'm so glad she showed up that "bikini girl" (ugh, I hate that tramp) on stage. Did you see her pair! WOW. A little overdone, ya think?



Overall, the Idol finale was A-Mazing! It was such a fun night full of so much entertainment. I will miss you Simon. See ya in January!

The reason why...

...I have been blogging a TON lately is because I have large amounts of free time at my internship where I am sitting in front of a computer screen with nothing to do. So why not blog?! Sure, I will. Thank-you. You are welcome. This trend will probably diminish slightly in about 4 weeks when my internship is over, but for now enjoy the surplus of gossip, pictures, and nothing but my personal opinion on life.

FYI- There are two new shows that CBS may be coming out with in mid-fall that Tony the Tiger would say look "GRRRRRRREAT!!!" or at least I would love to watch them. Here is a little sneak-peak. Enjoy!

Both are talented singers, and both will do extremely well in the music industry, but I REALLY hope KRIS wins for the simple fact that I don't know if I will be able to handle listening to Adam sing that "song" (for lack of a better term) on the radio 24/7 that Kara co-wrote last night. That song is HORRIBLE! Seriously, all the crap about "mountains" and "don't give up"- I might be able to handle it constantly being played on the radio with Kris, but I definitely won't be able to handle it with Adam screaming it in my ear every day. I guess tonight will not only be determining the next American Idol, but it will also be determining if my radio stays on or not for the next few months.

KUTV Miller "Motor Mouth" Kart Race- Race #1

Saturday morning, I woke up bright and early to drive to Tooele, a city in the middle of nowhere, for one of the promotions for my internship at KUTV2 News. The KUTV racing team competed against other media channels and radio stations (FOX, Clear Channel, The Zone...) in a one hour kart race...to the death! Each team member was required to race at least 10 minutes in the hour. Our team was first place THE WHOLE RACE! With 20 seconds to go, we were moments away from crossing the finish line, when a chunk of metal flew off our kart, and the kart died. It was like a scene from Taladega Nights or something. "Shake-n-bake!!!" Our kart failed to cross the finish line, but we ended coming in sixth place out of 9 or 10 since total laps were counted. (We beat FOX...which is all that matters...hehe.) This was the first of 4 races we will have. The overall winners will get money to donate to a charity. What a fun day at the Miller Motorsports Park!

RIP Adam Cook

A little late, but still sad news. David Cook lost his brother, Adam, to cancer in early May. I just thought this was really sad news. It will be interesting to see how David uses his music to allow his brother's memory to live on. I think it is really cool how he has the opportunity to do that.

Simon Cowell, too, offered his condolences. "I was incredibly saddened to hear the news," he said in a statement to PEOPLE. "I met Adam Cook a few times at American Idol. He was an incredible guy, and right now my thoughts are with David and his family."

Just Another Manic Monday...

Late for work this morning, I grabbed my shoes in a hurry (the black ones in my previous post that I now have 2 pairs of), and jumped in my car to beat the morning traffic. Half way to Salt Lake City, I decided to put my shoes on. (Don't worry, Robie was driving. We car pool together. Me putting shoes on while driving down the busy highway would NOT be a good idea.) So, I put on my shoes. They felt a little funny. This is because I grabbed two (2) right feet of the same shoe. Now I am stuck walking around all day with two right feet. Way to start the week off right, Chelsea. Way to go.

I guess it is time to share...

I probably should have shared this fabulous place with my friends and family sooner, but I secretly did not want to so I would have a better chance of winning a prize. (My evil side is revealed.) I hate to see you go. I loved your voice, even though you did sound like a chain smoker at times. But really, are you sure you are only 17? The competition is getting so close now. I just hope Adam does not win. He should come in second. There needs to be an upset. I still think the talent in last year's season was WAY better (maybe I am a little biased bc of David Archuleta). At this point, I don't really care who wins...but I might be a little happy if Kris wins. And what about Paula's little performance. Va-va-voom Paula! I thought it was a little weird that she didn't REALLY sing, but hey, she rocked- especially at her age. Did you see her do the splits, seriously!!!

I'm just going to say what everyone was thinking. Danny, what was up with that scream! Seriously! It reminded me of that scene in the movie The Princess Bride where poor Wesley was getting tortured by that machine in the woods. Wow! Danny, I still like you, but you are most likely to get voted off in my book off of that performance. Kris did pretty good, but rocker Allison and "I scream like a girl" Adam (as much as I really don't like you)- were both the best. It will be interesting to see what happens now...

If the shoe fits...

I was so sad when my FAVORITE pair of black heels started to break, but I kept wearing them anyway. They were the perfect height, so you could wear them all day long and never be in pain...which any female would know is super important. The best part is I got them at Dillard's almost 2 years ago on sale! Sa-weet! Recently, the rubber part on the bottom tore off leaving a piece of metal showing. I knew I had to find a new pair of black heels when Robie commented on how I sounded like a horse clogging on a road when I walked. (Think click clack, click clack, click clack) So, I sadly went out on a quest to find "the perfect black heels" again. I looked everywhere with no luck. I am super picky I guess, but I did not want an open toe, I couldn't handle 3 inch heels, and they could not be super pointy or really rounded. Exhastion! Finally, I decided to check to see if Plato's Closet (a super fun second hand clothes store) had any. I could not believe my eyes! There in front of me stood a single pair of MY HEELS!!! The exact same ones! Seriously! I couldn't let myself get too excited until I checked the size...and to my surprise, they WERE my size. Mint condition and all. I stood there in shock just starring at them. And...like it could not get any better...they were $8! I am the luckiest person in the world!
