Jaxon's Tumbling Tots Class

This was back in August, but I still wanted to document it on the blog.  I signed Jax up for a Tumbling Tots class at the Rec Center hoping it would help him learn some coordination.  The first day in his class of all 2-year olds, he was the only boy.  All the girls in his class patiently waited their turn in line, but of course Jax thought it was hilarious to run around and not listen at all.  It was so stressful, but every class he got better and better.  By the end of all the classes, it was night and day from the beginning.  Not only was he waiting his turn in line, but he had also learned so many new physical activities that were a challenge before.  I am so glad I signed him up for this class, and hopefully I can sign him up again when he turns 3.

Graduation Day.  He was so proud to get a medal from his teacher.

Gavin 9 Months

Stats
Weight: 19.8 lbs (55%)
Height: 29.25 in (85%)
Head: 18 in (72.5%)

As you can tell, his 7 month pic looks a little different.  You might be thinking, "Did Gavin get a tan?"  His 7 month pictures were taken while we were in Texas, but since I didn't have his chair, owl, onesie sticker, or laundry basket, I had to take the pictures in Texas and photoshop him in to the picture when I got home.

Oh how time flies, especially when it comes to babies.  I can't believe I am already writing Gavin's 9 month post!  I feel like it was just yesterday that he was born.  This little guy has brought so much happiness to our lives.  He is such a fun character with quite the personality.

  • Wears size 9-18 month clothes
  • Size 4 diapers
  • Has 4 teeth- two top, two bottom (this pic is when he got his first top tooth)

    • Likes finger food better than baby food.  His favorites are yogurt melts, puffs, rice crackers, bananas, chicken, and noodles.

    • Loves taking baths, and always has to hold the foam letters.

    • Says "ma-ma", "da-da", "ba-ba", and other babble.
    • He has mastered the fast crawl, and loves cruising on the furniture or anything he can climb up on.  I'm sure he will be walking very soon.

    • His favorite thing to chew on... wires.  Definitely not the safest thing for a baby, so we always have to watch him since he is constantly going after wires.

    • Moved to a big boy carseat a month ago, which was Jaxon's old carseat.  He loves it and falls asleep every time we get in the car.  Jax also loves his new big BIG boy seat.

    • Loves dancing to music.  He rocks back and forth when music turns on.
    • Loves bouncing around in his Johnny Jumper

    •  Gavin is a little fish. He loves going to the pool.  Even if the water is freezing, he is happy as can be splashing around.  Maybe it's because he likes showing off his baby rolls and man boobs.

    • Loves animals.  He gets so happy when he sees animals, and giggles like crazy.

    • Most of all, Gavin loves his big brother and wants to be just like him.  He follows Jaxon around the house everywhere, and always wants to do what he is doing.  I hope as he gets older, they become the best of friends.

We love our little Gavin so much.  He loves to observe and figure out the world by watching others.  I think he is going to be a big handful when he gets more mobile, because he has already mastered getting out of his highchair and he loves to climb anything and everything.  He is such a goofball, but he's often a lot more serious than Jaxon was at his age.  I just want to sqeeze him and never let him grow up.

Falls asleep every week in Sunday School at church

    Jaxon 2 1/2 Years Old

    Stats
    Weight: 28lbs (25%)
    Height: 36.75in (67%)

Jaxon at 2 1/2 is like a sour patch kid.  He can be the sweetest little guy ever when he helps out and loves his brother, but he can also be sour and throw the biggest tantrums known to man.  He is at such a fun age though, and it amazes me at how smart he is.

    • Wears 2T-3T clothes, size 7 shoes
    • He's a picky eater and his favorite foods are apples, oatmeal, ravioli, mac n cheese, fruit snacks, and dried mangoes.
    • Knows all the sounds each letter makes, and he is starting to sound out words.
    • Can count to 20 forward and backwards
    • Knows how to spell his name, cat, cow, and dog.

    • Jax LOVES to sing.  He is constantly singing a song, making up songs, or just walking around with whatever he can find to use as a microphone.

Singing Pink- "Just Give Me a Reason"

    Jax singing Muse- "Uprising"

    Jax singing Imagine Dragons- "Radioactive"

    Random song mashup

    • Some funny things Jaxon says:
"Mom, can you turn the dark off?" (For when he wants the lights on)

"I have an owie. It's FINE Jax. You are fine."  (He says this to himself all the time if he sees a scrape on his knee or something.  Probably because I always am telling him he is fine when he gets hurt.)

"Don't do that!  It's Ruuuuuuuuuuuude."  (We have been working on him using his words when other kids try to bully him.  It's kind of funny how long he can make the word 'Rude' sound.)

"Eat sumthin.  Eat sumthin.  I want to eat sumthin."  (I hear this ALL. DAY. LONG.  It's like he never gets full. Oh wait, he is a boy.  That's just the way boys are made.  I feel like I am going to go bankrupt with how much this skinny little boy eats.)
    • Jax is such a good big brother.  Sure, he can sometimes be a little possessive with his toys and not want to share, but what 2 year old isn't like that.  He is getting a lot better now that Gavin is starting to play with him.  He is also quite the enforcer, and makes sure to keep Gavin away from anything "Danger" or "Scary".  Jax thinks it is so funny when Gavin crawls after him, and he laughs so hard yelling, "Gavin's going to get you!!!"

I have a love/hate relationship with the age of 2.  I love this age since I can communicate with Jaxon, and he knows what I mean with almost everything I say.  He can also tell me how he feels and talk really well, so it is fun listening to all the silly things his little mind thinks of.  However, the terrible twos are very  much a part of our life.  His tantrums can be brutal.  Luckily, he does a good job of going to timeout if we tell him to.  It's when he throws tantrums in public that it can get really hard to be a mom.  One time it took Robie and myself to hold him down just to buckle him in his carseat, because he was throwing a fit since we were leaving a store where he wanted to play.  It's just something you have to shrug off and know it's just a phase that will pass.

We love our Jax man. I can't believe I am on the verge of having a THREE year old!  His little smile lights up my day and brings me so much joy. I love watching him learn new things and I am so proud to be his mom.

    "Look mom, it's chapstick!"

    Going to see Planes

This is what happens when I let him pick a Kit-Kat for a treat in the car.
I will be posting a tutorial on this fun toddler activity above soon.
