A rainy day at the zoo

On Saturday, we decided the rain was not going to keep us out of the house, so we drove to Salt Lake for a day at the zoo.  It was kind of cold and the rain was on and off, but we kept warm with our jackets and semi-dry with our umbrella.  It actually ended up being great, because there were not a lot of people there.  Jaxon loved running around looking at all the animals.  He is at such a fun age.  I surprised at how many animals were actually out and active despite the cold and rain.

Gavin's favorite part (okay, maybe mine too) was the giraffes.  I was surprised how close we could get to them.  We even got to reunite Sophie (Gavin's favorite giraffe teething toy) with her people.

This Tiger was super hungry.  He get chuffing and growling for food.  The video is kind of loud because of the rain, but it is cool to hear the tiger's growl since it's not something you hear every day.

This gorilla was doing his own thing picking his nose and eating right next to the glass.  Right when Jaxon went up to the glass to look at him, the gorilla jumped towards the glass and scared the crap out of Jax.  It was so funny and it happened the second before I got this pic.  The gorilla looks evil here.

Right after we saw the monkeys, we ran into this peacock.  He had all his feathers spread and was shaking them as a mating call for the female peacock walking around.  It was really cool to watch.  I didn't catch the whole thing on video, but when he shook his feathers it sounded like a rattle shaking really fast.  *Also, there was another boy named Gavin there and his sister was constantly yelling at him.  Just wanted to say that so no one thinks I was getting annoyed with my 5 month old baby for climbing on the fence at the zoo.  Haha.

We had a lot of fun and it was nice being able to get out as a family.
