What a weekend!

Well, school starts in a week for both of us. That means between work and school, Robie and I will probably only get to see each other on the weekends because we will be so busy. We decided to take advantage of this weekend, and do whatever we wanted to. We saw Kung Fu Panda, ate some good food, and Robie surprised me by taking me to the Anniversary Inn. We stayed in the lighthouse room...MY FAVORITE!!!

Don't worry...it's just sparkling cider.
The next day, we had a relaxing family picnic in the park.

We wore Gizmo out by playing frisbee.

To finish our weekend trip, we thought it would be fun to go camping. So, we packed Gizmo along with our stuff and drove to find some place to camp. It was pitch black outside, but luckily we found a nice grassy area near the mouth of a canyon to pitch our tent. After a long 45 minutes of trying to put up the tent (using headband lights as our only source of sight), we finally settled in for our camping experience. We attempted to make smores with the lighters we brought from home....which failed. Finally, we just wanted to get to sleep, but with all the outdoor noises, Gizmo could not stop barking. He kept us awake for hours with his howling, and I think we were both ready to punt him over the mountain. Around 3am, we finally were able to start dozing off, when a loud noise came on. Evidently, the "nice grassy area" we chose to camp on was nice for a reason...it was part of a park. The next thing we knew, we were getting DRENCHED from the sprinkler system we were practically on top of. Dripping wet, we did the first thing we could think of- RUN with everything we had. Soaking wet and cold, we called it a night and just went home. Long story short, it was probably the worst camping experience EVER, but at least it will be a fun story to tell in the future.

Funny that you ended up having a rough camping trip even though it was in a park. Good luck with school.
